Inside the implementation

A successful request is only one part of a successful workflow.

An order leaves the storefront and the response times out. Did the ERP reject it, accept it or finish after the caller stopped waiting? We design around these operating questions from the beginning. Mapping fields matters, but so do stable identifiers, acknowledgements, duplicate handling and the evidence needed before a resend.

Customer and pricing context

Define the relationship between a commerce account and the customer records, locations and terms in the ERP. Decide when values are synchronized, requested or cached, including what a buyer sees when data is unavailable.

Product and availability data

Map identifiers, units, variants and availability semantics across ERP, PIM and commerce. Separate technical inventory quantities from the business promise shown to a buyer, and assign ownership of each transformation.

Orders and fulfillment

Define order acceptance, downstream identifiers, shipment and invoice updates. Make failures actionable, with enough context to investigate a record without exposing unnecessary customer or credential data.

Integration discovery

We inventory systems, entities, triggers and existing interfaces, then identify the highest-risk handoffs. The result is a defined scope and an ownership map that technical and operational teams can review together.

Implementation choices

We evaluate supported platform connectors, middleware and custom extensions against the actual requirements. We avoid moving every rule into a new service when a supported configuration or existing integration boundary can meet the need.

Failure and recovery behavior

We define how to handle invalid records, timeouts, retries and conflicting updates. Recovery should account for the downstream state, and repeated delivery should not silently create duplicate business transactions.

Visibility and handoff

Logs and status views should connect technical activity to a useful record identifier and next action. We document the workflow, operational responsibilities and the information needed to investigate exceptions.

Can you work with our current ERP and middleware?

We start by reviewing the available interfaces, existing integrations and ownership constraints. The recommendation depends on the systems and workflows in scope; it does not require replacing middleware simply to introduce a new architecture.

Do all exchanges need to happen in real time?

No. Pricing, inventory, products and order status can have different freshness and failure requirements. We decide which exchanges should be scheduled, event-driven or requested on demand based on the business need and supported interfaces.

Can you improve an unreliable integration without rebuilding everything?

Yes. A focused engagement can trace one failing workflow and address its mapping, state handling, visibility or recovery behavior. We establish the existing boundaries before recommending a wider rebuild.
